INTRODUCTION
In his book Let My People Go Chief Albert Luthuli said, “we do not expect to see the church organizing political movements. But it must be with people, in their lives … The church must be in among us all. If it stands on the outskirts, we cannot expect our religion to survive and be respected”. This is what KwaZulu-Natal Christian Council (hereafter KZNCC) seeks to do and has done through its participation in the 2021 municipal elections of 1 November 2021 (hereafter municipal elections) in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.
This is a report on the work of KZNCC and its partners towards and during the municipal elections. In this report we will first give a context to the involvement of KZNCC in the elections as well as to identify its partners in this endeavour. The extent of its involvement will be also explained before this report articulates on its observational findings and thereafter recommendations and the conclusion.
